Wiers Technicians Take on IMTA Competition
Earlier this month, six Wiers technicians took their talents to the Indiana Motor Truck Association Truck Driving and Technician Championship, at Lincoln Tech, and came away with several accomplishments. Among these were several 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes in a variety of tests and challenges. This competition, held annually, is said to be an “exhibition of skill, professionalism and safe handling and maintenance of a commercial motor vehicle under competitive conditions,” and therefore, provided a venue in which Wiers technicians could shine.
This year’s IMTA Championships included 46 total competitors – compared to 31 at last year’s event – who completed hands-on skills challenges, testing both technical knowledge and performance. The challenges our technicians took on included nine stations that coincided with skills pertaining to: electrical, service information, brakes, engine, fasteners, ohm/meter, PMI, tire & wheel, and cybersecurity. We’re proud to announce the following accolades:
- Henry T. – 3rd Overall for Indiana and 3rd in Volt & Ohm
- Jeff W. – 1st in Cyber Security and 3rd in Tires
- John M. – 2nd in Brakes and 3rd in Engines
- Aaron B. – 2nd in Engines
- Brock A. – 2nd in Fasteners
Wiers’ technicians underwent their written portion of the competition on Friday, as well as tackled a fasteners training and skills station walkthrough to prepare for the tactical test that took place the following morning and afternoon. Our team was recognized that evening at the awards banquet.
Join us in congratulating our team on another year of outstanding success at the IMTA Truck Driving and Technician Championships!
